How these numbers were collected: until September 2026 our weekly DBPR records request returned only licenses with an Active secondary status, so earlier months undercount new licensees, and a missing month means no file was collected that month. The current month is partial. Counts are unique license numbers.

How many new agents have not joined a brokerage

Since September 2026 our files carry DBPR's secondary status for every new license. Of 1,600 new licenses in those files, 68% were Inactive. A Florida sales associate must be registered with an employing broker to practice, so for someone licensed in the last few weeks, Inactive generally means they have not chosen a brokerage yet. For brokers recruiting new agents, that is the group still making the decision.

What does an Inactive license status mean for a new Florida agent?

Inactive is the secondary license status DBPR records for a license that is not currently active. A Florida sales associate has to be registered with an employing broker to practice, so a brand-new Inactive licensee has generally not placed their license with a brokerage yet.
