Guide for real estate schools and course providers

Real estate school marketing in Florida: reaching new licensees

Every newly licensed Florida agent has a deadline: 45 hours of post-licensing before their first renewal. The school that reaches them first, while they are still deciding, usually gets the enrollment.

Why new licensees are the whole market

Pre-licensing students find a school on their own. Post-licensing is different: everyone who passes the exam has to take it, on a deadline, and most have no loyalty to their pre-licensing school. Florida licenses about 1,100 new real estate agents a month. Each of them will buy a post-licensing course from someone, and later 14 hours of continuing education every renewal.

The deadline, exactly

Most new agents enroll well before the deadline, which is why reaching them in their first weeks matters more than reaching them close to it.

What to send a new licensee

Finding newly licensed agents

Florida DBPR publishes new real estate licenses. You can file a public records request yourself (see how to get the DBPR licensee list), or get every new licensee weekly, by county, with name, email, phone, mailing address and original license date, which is the list we sell. The license date tells you exactly where each agent is against their deadline.

Stay compliant

Commercial email needs an honest subject, your postal address and an opt-out you honor (CAN-SPAM). Calls and texts to cell phones have separate rules (TCPA and the Do Not Call registry). Check current requirements with the Florida Real Estate Commission before quoting them in marketing. This is not legal advice.

Frequently asked questions

How do real estate schools market post-licensing courses in Florida?

By reaching new licensees early, before they pick a provider. A Florida sales associate has until their first renewal to complete 45 hours of post-licensing, and most choose a school in their first months. A short email with the course format, schedule and price, sent soon after licensing, gets in ahead of other providers.

What is the Florida post-licensing requirement for real estate agents?

A new sales associate must complete a 45-hour post-licensing course before their first license renewal, or the license becomes null and void. A new broker must complete 60 hours of post-licensing education. After the first renewal, licensees complete 14 hours of continuing education each renewal cycle.

When is a new Florida agent's first renewal?

Florida real estate licenses expire on March 31 or September 30. A new licensee's first renewal is the first of those dates that falls at least 18 months after they were licensed, so roughly 18 to 24 months after licensing.

Where can a school get a list of newly licensed Florida agents?

New licenses are public records held by Florida DBPR. You can file your own public records request, or subscribe to a weekly file of every new licensee by county with name, email, phone, mailing address and license date.

How many new real estate agents are licensed in Florida each month?

About 1,100. Our DBPR records show 13,578 new Florida real estate licenses in the last 12 months.
